New Uniform . . .

Thursday 19 October/ Tāite 19 Oketopa /Aso Tofi 19 Oketopa/Huwebe 19 Oktubre 2023

Tēnā tātou i raro i te maru o Ngāi Tahu, Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa,  Hola, Talofa lava,Malo e lelei, Kamusta, Namastee, Namaskāra, Ni sa bula vinaka, Kia orana, Fakatalofa atu, As-salamu Alaikum.

Swimming has made for a hectic couple of weeks, but is an important part of the NZ Curriculum. The tamariki/children enjoyed swimming in their pyjamas on Wednesday. We have lent a lot of swimming togs to our tamariki. We would really appreciate getting these back as soon as possible please.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Ryder for winning a scholarship to Chisnallwood Intermediate for 2024.Well done !

Our New Uniform

Using the colours chosen by our survey last term, we involved Aly Maclean from Aly Maclean Apparel.Aly listened to our requirements about washing, colour fastness, value for money and offered us some different options.

You are not able to purchase yet, because Aly is getting some changes made to her website to add an online portal for our school. You will be able to order on line, pay and it will be delivered to school for your pick up. The company is very used to dealing with WINZ, Variety Club and other organisations. As soon as we know it is live, we will share the information.

The website is https://www.alymaclean.co.nz/schooluniforms.

We are so pleased with the end result.

The pieces of uniform are:-

Black Skort - with zipper  pockets and our school name

Black drill shorts with our our school name

Black  Cargo Pants  with our school name

Pea green polo with our logo( Sun smart UV50)

Either a . . .

Black Polar  Fleece with logo or

Black shell jacket with logo

Black socks

Sports shoes

We have some of the pieces in the school office and are waiting for delivery of shorts and some cargo pants. The tamariki/children who have seen it already are very excited.

We will be starting next year with all of our New Entrants and tamariki new to our school wearing our new uniform. You may wish to put your tamariki in the new uniform and that is fine. The rest of the children have a whole year to be in our new uniform. At the beginning of 2025, everyone will be in the school uniform.

The Board of Trustees

The board met last Wednesday and has agreed to two goals for the 2024 Strategic Plan. These goals will guide the schools teaching and learning. We would love any feedback on these.

Curriculum

Educational equity through a school curriculum that is adaptable and responsive, fostering engagement and empowering all tamariki.

Hauora

An environment of nurture and recognition for all tamariki, where every child feels secure, is celebrated and experiences a profound sense of belonging, all while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Slipway

NB:The Christchurch City Council is finalising plans for the  design of the new slipway and it will be worked on in the school holidays. This will bring some changes and more safety for our tamariki. The slipway ( the road outside school) will become a drop off zone before and after school. This means that if you want to park up and come into school, you will need to park on Linwood Avenue, or Eastgate or over in Chelsea Street.

Whānau Hui

Kia ora to the rua/two whānau who made the time to come and have a cup of coffee and a chat about our Te Reo Māori programme and tikanga at our school. We really appreciated hearing about what we could do better. We loved meeting you!
