Cross Country 2021

Linwood Avenue School —

Run, crawl, climb, jump!

On Monday 17 May we had our annual Cross Country. This year Mrs Thomson decided to change it up a bit and include a fun run event.

The day started with a championship event. Children opted into this and had to run around the school and then complete 2 laps of the park (this is over 2km worth of running!) Well done to those children who competed in this event, we were impressed with the 'give it a go' attitude and the perseverance to keep going. We even had some super keen year 3s give a go - ka pai to you! The results of this event will determine which year 5 and 6 children will attend the zone cross country event coming up. Well done to Luca Lemalie and Hera Moana who took out 1st place boys and 1st place girls.

The next part of the day was all about lots of fun with each class running the cross country circuit. This included going under a tarpaulin, over some benches, climbing over hay bales, through a ladder, over the mats and a sprint home. Even a few of the teachers gave it a go. It was great to see the smiling faces of all those who competed.

A special thank you to Mrs Thomson who organised the event and all the parents who came along to support their tamariki.
