Coding for the future

Trevor Proctor —

Both a group of senior and middle children have spent some time using coding in a 2 hour course at the local library.

A group of lucky students attended a coding course/ introduction today at the Linwood Library. The group was split into 4 sections where they learnt about coding in a variety of forms from coding spheros, making consoles for computer games and looking at a working digital garden measuring the temperature and water content of the soil through to problem solving.

It was great to see the enthusiasm for the activities as well as the amount of talking going on to solve the problems that had been set for the children. They used their prior knowledge and built on this using experts as well as sharing all of the equipment so that they all had a go.

Really nice to see children fully engaged for a 2 hour period and we look forward to using this equipment in the future.
