Punctuality Reset: starting Week 1 Term 4

Richard Edmundson —

Maximising student learning time: the skill of punctuality

Learning at LCŌ begins at 8:45am every day and we wish to maximise all student learning time available to us. To ensure all learners make the most of their learning opportunities, we need them in class on time.

Starting on the first day of next term learners who arrive after 8:45am (second bell), will sign in late at the referral room. The intention of this is be supportive of learners to be on time, both for developing the skills of punctuality and to ensure all learning time is effectively used. Of course, within this, LCŌ also recognises and supports that there can be a number of legitimate reasons why a learner is late.

As now, if your child will be late due to an appointment, please contact the office before 9am or as soon as possible.

Continued lateness will be followed up by the Kaiārahi or Dean.

We are pleased to be taking this more personalised approach to lateness and its impact on learning. If you have any questions or concerns about this change or your child's achievement in general, please feel free to contact their dean.

Finally, schools can be complex places. Therefore, if any member of the community wishes to talk to me about anything, please contact the office, or my direct dial 982 0100 ext 839, to arrange a time for this to occur. My door is open.
