On September 21st and 22nd, the South Island Schools Pool Competition was held.

Both were long days, starting at 8.30 am and ending around 3 pm. On the first day four LCO students, Shayden and Bryson McKenzie, Ben Broomhall and Blair Williams took part in the pairs. Both teams played well and Shayden and Bryson went on to win the pairs competition against tough opposition from two sisters from Geraldine who were Yr 12 and Yr13. Shayden and Bryson are Yr 10 and Yr7. 

The following day the four were joined by Jamie Platt-Watters. Again, all players competed with skill and great attitude. Shayden ended the day facing the same Yr 12 girl he had played in the doubles. She had just recently won the South Island Open Women's Championship. Shayden won four frames to one in a best of Seven Final.
