Thurs-Fri 25-26 June: learning conferences

Parent-student-teacher learning progress conversations: Yr 7-10 Wā Whakanui; Yr 11-13 Academic Conferences

Kia ora koutou. Talofa. Kia Orana. Malo e lelei. Bula. Fakaalofa atu. Namaste and Kumusta. Greetings to everyone at LCŌ and our wider LCŌ community.

So'o le fau i le fau. This Samoan proverb is about unity, joining the hibiscus fibres together for understanding and strength, and is a suitable way to introduce our week 11 learning conferences both in itself and because we are in Samoan Language Week.

Learning Conferences: advance notice

These are whānau-student-teacher learning progress conversations. The Yr 7-10 conversations are called Wā Whakanui and Yr 11-13 Academic Conferences. They will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 25 June and all day Friday 26 June. Further information about the format of these learning conferences including the booking process will be available to whānau from this Tuesday 2nd June.

Uniform

Fa'afetai-thank you to aiga-families who have had the conversation with their child about wearing the school uniform correctly. We want all students to be warm and dry for learning so for whānau wishing to discuss uniform support please contact your child's dean or Mrs Hancock, our uniform co-ordinator, ext 866.

School Sport

We are hopeful that school sport will begin again with appropriate safeguards towards the end of this term. Watch this space and keep our fingers crossed.

Borrowed chromebooks

These have been steadily returned to the office. We look forward to receiving the remaining ones, fa'afetai.

"Good news and bad news"

A reminder that Monday is a public holiday for Queen's Birthday. Originally, pre-lockdown, this Tuesday was going to be a Staff Only Day, but we cancelled this to maximise students being onsite for learning. I am mentioning this because I have heard some students and families believe it is still going to be a four day weekend. It's not. Tuesday is back at school. E maeu le laki lena?! How lucky is that?!
