Gateway Students at Work

Dan Russell —

Linwood College students are gaining valuable work experience in our community.

Devika Giroti, here working at Club 304, a daycare facility for the elderly.

This work placement supports Devika to make decisions about her future career pathway, gain important employability skills, and build her confidence in working with people. Devika is interested in careers such as Social Work, Aged Care, Nursing and Education, and this placement is an excellent stepping stone toward these.

Pritesh Nair, here working at Premium Tyres in Linwood. This work placement allows Pritesh to practice his automotive skills in a structured environment with real customers. The automotive industry is all about quality, reliable service, and this experience allows Pritesh to be trained by professionals in the workplace, who can vouch for the quality of his work.

Callum Reesby, seen here working at Noel Leeming on Moorhouse Ave. This placement allows Callum to work as part of a large team in a complex retail and technology environment. Whilst not necessarily Callum’s ultimate career pathway, it nevertheless helps him build great skills for the workplace like customer service skills, teamwork skills, communication skills and many more.
