Kākāriki House Dean's Report

Ethan Smith —

Kia Ora, and warm greetings from Kākāriki house.

I hope everyone is keeping safe and has settled into term three. 2020 is continuing to be unpredictable and I am sure the announcement of Level Two has caused anxiety and stress for many. Please look after yourself.

In saying that, it is worth remembering that Term 3 is hugely important for academic success for our senior students. Students should be focused on their studies and working with their teachers to ensure that they are meeting expectations for assessments and exam preparation. It is important to note that even if it seems like it may be impossible to achieve NCEA this year, there is still heaps of time to work together to make a plan and start experiencing success. If you or your child are feeling overwhelmed about NCEA assessment or exams, please do not hesitate to contact me. Term 3 is just as important for guidance, help and opportunities.

As I am writing this report we are halfway through our house spelling competition for 2020. Representing Kākāriki junior students was Abigail Soliman who did incredibly well, and was supported by a number of Kākāriki students. Caitlin Templeton is representing the senior Kākāriki students, and I am sure she will do just as well. It is great to see students exciting and supporting spelling.

In further exciting news for Kākāriki House, I also have the pleasure in announcing the recent appointment of an Assistant Dean, Kate Munro.

Kākāriki House Assistant Dean: Kate Munro

I wish you all well for the remainder of Term 3, again if you have any queries or concerns about your child's progress then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Ethan Smith
