Linwood College at Ōtākaro awarded "Creatives in Schools" funding

Emily Whiteman —

Painting from a new perspective using VR technology is now possible thanks to a $15,000 grant.

Thanks to the Creatives in Schools funding, LCŌ will be Hosting Dr Claire Hughes ( PhD Fine Arts ) as our 'Creative in Schools' artist for Term 1 and 2.

Dr Hughes, within her own practice, uses digital technology to create animated artworks that explore a mixture of science and movement.

Our project is to use virtual reality and Tilt Brush to create artworks that respond to the students' own ideas and themes.  Students will "paint" using the software while working with a virtual reality headset.

This project is open to learners across the school community, not just Visual Art students. Miss Whiteman is looking for students who would like to be involved. Please email wh@linwoodcollege.school.nz if you would like more info or if your young person would like to be part of this project.
