Kōwhai House Dean's Report

Pania Watson —

Kia ora e te whānau o Kōwhai.

After reflecting on a unique and challenging year last year, Kōwhai House has much to be proud of. We won the House Cup! Two years in a row! This achievement is a reflection of the teamwork and shared values of our wonderful ākonga and kaiārahi.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the new leadership team for Kōwhai House:

Miss Watson - Dean for Y9 and 10

Ms Schroeder - Dean for Year 11 to 13

Our house leaders for 2021 have now also been appointed. A big congratulations to:

Chase Bowen-Kaahu - Y12

Fane Ngauamo - Y12

Nadia Dewes-Mcleod - Y11

Gladdys Toailoa - Y10

Wyatt Va’a - Y8

Maniah Tie - Y7

The new Kōwhai leadership team are excited about the year ahead. We are looking forward to leading this house for the third year of winning! #threepeat

We had an excellent year both academically and for personal excellence. We reached 85% and 90% achievement in NCEA Level 2 and 3. We would like to congratulate the following students for displaying high levels of academic achievement and receiving endorsement awards:

Paul Reyes - Merit Endorsement L2 NCEA

Zoe Busch - Merit Endorsement L2 NCEA

Chatt Ladao - Merit Endorsement L2 NCEA

Justace Davis-Joseph - Merit Endorsement L1 NCEA

Paula Ruquinala - Merit Endorsement L1 NCEA

Fane Ngauamo - Merit Endorsement L1 NCEA

This term we have two house events - The House leaders fear factor challenge and Tabloid sports. We are looking forward to participating in these events and representing Kōwhai house with pride.

At this stage of the year, we also encourage our ākonga to seek and take up the co-curricular and extracurricular opportunities that are available, whether it is joining a sports team or a creative writing club or attending tutoring sessions.

As we mark the middle of Term One, the school year is in full swing and our Kōwhai ākonga are taking a new year, their new classes, teachers and goals in their stride. Our learners should now be settled in their routines of arriving on time, in full uniform and with the correct gear and attitude to make the most of the learning experiences being offered to them by our dedicated kaiako.

Ngā mihi nui,

Ms Schroeder and Miss Watson
