Kākāriki House Dean’s Report

Ethan Smith —

Kia ora koutou and warm greetings from Kākāriki house.

Although the year is still very young, there has been a number of achievements within the house that I would like to celebrate. Firstly, I would like to acknowledge the 2021 Kākāriki house leaders who were announced in the first house assembly for the year. As usual, it was a tough selection process with many more students applying than we had positions. The six house leaders for 2021 are; Becky Bennett, Sophie Watson, Inoke Vosalevu, Devon Cootes, Isis-Anne Carruth and Zach Derham. I believe this group of learners will be excellent role models and hopefully help us win the house competitions this year!

Secondly, I wanted to publicly congratulate Sophie Watson who completed the coast to coast earlier this term, it was a massive accomplishment and all of Kākāriki house is proud of your achievement. Lastly, I want to acknowledge the Kākāriki students who gained their NCEA qualification last year, both with Achieved and Merit or Excellence endorsements. I know how hard everyone worked during 2020 to gain their NCEA qualification, and you should feel proud of what you have achieved. These students were awarded an NCEA badge during Ako this week, and those who gained a Merit or Excellence endorsement were acknowledged during our house assembly earlier in the term.

Kākāriki is very fortunate to have some amazing kaiārahi working with our learners, and helping guide them through their Linwood College journey. They are their biggest supporters in school, and will often be their first port of call. I wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge them and the hard work they have done and continue to do. A special mention to Kate Munro who is the assistant dean for the house.

Kākāriki House Assistant Dean: Kate Munro

Kate works closely with me and helps guide a number of our students. Below I will list all of the kaiārahi and their emails in case you need to contact them for any reason. Your child will be able to identify who their kaiārahi is.
