Karaka House Dean's Report

Robbie Timo —

An update from the Karaka Dean.

We are in to win.

Talofa lava all, especially to our wider whānau in the community. As we ease restrictions because of Covid-19 I have to mention a big thank you to those of you who volunteer for kid's sport. It has been a tough couple of weeks with having one weekend called off and the next with no spectators. Most winter sports are winding down into playoffs so best of luck to those competing still.

Wā Whakanui and senior academic conferencing are coming up in Week 9 so please ensure you make an appointment with your child’s kaiārahi. You can also call the school if you cannot access the website online. If your child is in Years 11-13 please ensure they know how many credits they are on and how many more they need to get across the line.

As a school, we have been ensuring that any student outside of class during the day will have consequences if they are deliberately being truant. We have after school detentions running on Tuesday and Thursday where a litter pick up is enforced. Sunday Principal's detention is for those who need to revisit our school values under the guidance of our principal.

And as the deaning for our house gets busier I have the pleasure in announcing the recent appointment of an assistant Dean in Nick Colville.

Karaka House Assisstant Dean: Nick Colville

Together we are looking at ensuring everyone in Karaka House are given every opportunity to excel here at Linwood College at Ōtakaro.

Nga mihi,

Robbie Timo
