Deep Cove 2021

Ruth Blair —

The Year 6-8s had a fun filled and character building 4 days in Deep Cove last week...what lucky kids in Covid times to be able to attend a school camp!

We left in the pouring rain and arrived to a clear, sunny day coming over the Wilmot Pass. Hikes to Helena Falls (some for a drenching, some not), Hanging Valley, fishing in the dinghies or on the wharf until Group 3 lost the sinkers ;0), informative walks with our Nature Guides Will and Hari, a Doubtful Sound cruise where we saw a super pod of bottlenose dolphins (they hadn't seen any for over a month), lots of fun games and activities with Nick from Adventure Southland, discovering Nature's Christmas tree (the glowworms!), having fun with our friends and eating lots of really good food were our highlights from the week.

What an adventure. Lucky we had Marcus to keep everyone under control.

Room Inspections every day involved luxing, wiping window sills, lining up shoes, hanging bags...well done to these tidy Kiwis: Angus, Charlie, Dom & Alex for winning by a close margin.

Thank you for the home baking and food/meal donations - we were never hungry that's for sure.

What a great way to start our school year!
