Celebrating Diwali In Room 1
Last week Room 1 celebrated Diwali. Diwali is the Indian Festival of Light. It is held in late October or early November and celebrates the beginning of the Indian new year. The celebrations last for five days.
Our big book and poem focused on Diwali and what makes it special and how it is celebrated. Our key idea was to think about what happens in our families when there is a festival or special celebration and how do we celebrate. There were many different discussions making connections about how we all celebrate and how that makes us special and unique.
One of the ways Diwali is celebrated is by lighting divas (lights) around the rooms. Room 1 then created their very own divas using paper plates, dye and coloured card.
