Rugby Southland are offering a 10-a-side Rugby Competition for girls in Years 7 & 8, which will run in Term 3, 2023. This five-week competition is an exciting step in providing more opportunities for young females to participate in rugby. Lochiel students who are interested will merge with another local school to make a team to enter this competition.

Dates of play will be:

• Monday, 21st August 2023

• Monday, 28th August 2023

• Monday, 4th September 2023

• Monday, 11th September 2023

• Monday, 18th September 2023 - On the 18th of September, a festival will be held with all teams playing in Invercargill.

All games will be played at 4.30 pm with more information on fields to come.

• 10 a-side on the field at one time (reserves allowed – maximum of 15 players per squad)

• Prior to the competition starting, each team must complete a tackle clinic with Rugby Southland.

• Full field

• 1 x 40 minute game per week (20 minute halves)

• If there is an odd number of teams there will be a game of three halves to avoid a bye

• Results are recorded however there is no points ladder

• No finals
