We have been advised by NZ Cricket, that all cricket games have been cancelled for this term. Fingers crossed for Term 4.

WFC registrations are now being taken for football players born 2016 upwards, male and female.

All touch & cricket is cancelled for Term 1. Fingers crossed for Term 4. All hockey (club, practice, school) will be postponed until Saturday, 2 May, 2020.

The children had a lot of fun learning literacy skills alongside Dr Murray Gadd and Carla McNeil last week. The staff were treated to professional Development with these experts after school as well. Pupils were also taught lessons regarding Internet Safety with John Parsons.

This is the second year of running these “Small Ferns to Black Ferns” camps. It is an opportunity for girls to come along and give rugby a go or develop their skills and confidence before rugby season starts in Term 2.

We understand the importance of communication with parents and the wider community and consequently use a variety of methods to send messages out. There are also many avenues for the community to contact Lochiel School.

On Tuesday, 10 March 2020 we were lucky enough to have John Parsons back at Lochiel School talking about Cyber Safety to our students.

On Tuesday Mrs Page showed Room 1 a video story called "How Will I Get To School This Year". It's about a boy who rides to school on the smelly old school bus.

We are excited to announce that the BOT approved the appointment of Mrs Kira Lockie to work alongside Miss Blair, in the Core Curriculum Areas of Literacy and Numeracy, Monday-Thursday in Rm 4, over Terms 2-4. Mrs Lockie has been appointed due to the higher than predicted numbers in Rm 4. Mrs Lockie will also be the Beginning Teacher Release teacher for Miss Ella Morrison and Miss Eva Mullally. The children and staff know Mrs Lockie, and are excited about her staying with our team.

On Tuesday, 28 January, 2020 the Lochiel School staff ventured to Riverton Primary School to complete joint professional development on Structured Literacy which was being delivered by Carla McNeil from Learning Matters.
