Summer McKerchar — March 15, 2020
This is the second year of running these “Small Ferns to Black Ferns” camps. It is an opportunity for girls to come along and give rugby a go or develop their skills and confidence before rugby season starts in Term 2.
There are half day sessions that will be led by NZ Rugby, Black Ferns players, local PU staff, representative & club players. Great role models to teach our future players.
Morning sessions: 9-12noon is for girls Year 3 to Year 8.
Afternoon sessions: 1-4pm is for Year 9 to Year 13.
Thursday, 23 April, 2020 – Invercargill

Female Rugby Ambassador
Last year we launched a new initiative for school girls to become ambassadors in their schools. We had 32 girls sign up for it in 2019 and they were invited to a session to meet some Black Fern players, learn how to coach skills / rippa games etc and were asked to go back to their community and share their rugby knowledge with others. The girls were also challenged to put together a video, poster etc of what they achieved in 2019. Some came back with some cool stories and went in with a chance to win a Black Ferns Jersey prize pack.
We are reaching out again in 2020 to see if there are any other girls that would be interested in becoming an ambassador. We are looking for one person from each school that Principals, Head of Rugby or Sport think deserves the opportunity and you think would love to do it. More information is attached.
