Omimi House Report

Lena McNaughton —

Omimi has had a stellar year, with 2017 being kicked off with a sun kissed beach day at Warrington.

We began with light competition between each group rooms, before uniting in the iconic house chant. Although unchanged for years, in 2017 we came up with (well Mane came up with) a new chant which we rehearsed for our upcoming athletics day. The rest of the day was followed with some year 13 directed games, including football, rounders, ultimate frisbee and a hole digging competition. Hot and hungry we were refreshed ourselves with a sausage sizzle, paired with a dip in the ocean. Finishing the great day off with tug of war, we piled onto the buses, ready to make 2017 a year to remember.

With yellow always making a bright appearance in the inter-house activities, athletics day was no excuse. Everyone giving 110% we gave Clayton a run for their money. Although coming a close second, we dominated in house spirit, with yellow streamers and face paint scattered throughout the stands and our newly practised chant shaking the ground. Second place only encouraged Omimi even more and soon after in the dodgeball competition the house cup was returned. The cup stayed polished and proud in Ms Henderson’s office as we won cross-country and futsal. However, in the recent weeks we competed in the indoor rowing competition, coming third, we handed the cup over to Aoraki- because sharing is caring.

Overall 2017 has been a fantastic year for Omimi, with many thanks to all the group teachers, the year thirteens and of course, Ms Henderson. We hope you all had fun and continue to dominate in 2018!
