French classes plant trees

Heike Cebulla-Elder —

After having discussed environmental issues in Term 1 in class some of the French students wanted to put into practice what they have been learning and debating about in class.

Last year, the school received 30 Manuka and 30 Kanuka trees from the Town Belt Kaitiaki to be planted at school and as autumn/winter is a very good time to “planter les arbres”, we planted most of them in June. Un grand merci a Dave who prepared the grounds for us and demonstrated the planting process to the students. It was a beautiful day and lots of fun to work outside the classroom. Hopefully the students can come back in a few years and see the growth of their trees!
