Reva wins LIONS Speech Competition

Kristan Mouat —

Head Girl, Reva Grills won the Otago-South Canterbury final of the LIONS speech competition in Oamaru at the end of May.

Reva then performed strongly at the National finals in August. She spoke on the topic of Race Unity in a prepared speech of 5-6 minutes and then had to deliver an impromptu speech for 2 minutes on the topic of "Sports People Get Too Much."   One third of the marks came from the impromptu section, and Reva impressed the audience with her quick wit and sense of humour.

This is Reva's second Otago regional speech title.  Earlier in May, Reva also won the Otago-Southland final of the Rotary speech competition in Invercargill after winning several Dunedin-wide speak-offs.
