Ex-Logan Park student Abby Wolfe (17) was selected for the NZ Performing Arts Team to compete in America at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood, in July this year.

Abby organised an outside music concert, Wolfestock, at Logan Park, featuring a number of Logan Park bands and talented musicians, including music teacher John Dodd's "The Chaps."   Donations and various stalls selling cakes, food, second hand items and face painting helped Abby raise nearly $2,000 towards her trip.

The World Championships of Performing Arts are considered the one and only "official Talent Olympics" for aspiring performers and entertainers.   Performers from over 40 countries are involved. 

Every contestant attending the World Championships is screened to qualify and selected.  

A talent scout invited Abby to audition after seeing her busking in Albion Place in town.  She's been a regular busker (singer/guitarist) for most of last year. She had to prepare an audition tape and submit it through YouTube.   

Last year she was also a successful NZ's X-Factor contestant, being flown to Auckland to compete.

The objective of the World Championships is for dedicated performers and entertainers who want to train and learn, compare their talent to others and network.  It has an annual production of the finest national, regional and international competitions for exceptional, aspiring performing artists.  

Gold medals are awarded and scholarships worth $130,000 are awarded.
