Junior Netball Season

Anna Goodin and Emily Fotheringham —

The 2022 netball season for the Logan Park Junior A Team was reasonably successful.

Although we made it to the semi finals and came fourth, we still had numerous wins throughout the season. Over the season, we all got to know each other and we learnt how to work as a team on court and off court, and we would often be on the sidelines cheering for each other.

We were so lucky to have two amazing coaches, who taught us their ways and gave up their spare time on Wednesday lunchtimes to come and help us improve as a team and as individuals, often giving us face to face tips on how to improve our shooting, defending and midcourt positions. Eva Woodhouse and Grace Carver were amazing coaches, and we’re so grateful to have been able to have the best of the best coaches.

The other junior teams also had a good season, having not such a successful season as the A team, but still having fun and showing up to practices. They showed great commitment over the season, and even after only winning a few games, they were great sports and enjoyed it as much as they possibly could. All their coaches (Grace Carver, Maia Puricelli Callau, Kelly Wilkinson, Ally May Sharma, Sophia Goodin) showed great commitment too, showing up to all the practices to help the girls improve their skills.

The Junior A Team was also asked to umpire when needed, which gave us a good chance to step up and practice our knowledge of how the game works when you’re not playing. It was lots of fun, even when we often ended up on standby, hanging around for an hour or so. It’s always a good experience, even if we weren’t umpiring, just watching.
