Pink Shirt Day

Jodie Kitchingman —

Friday 16th of October saw Logan Park participate in Pink Shirt day, a day to celebrate diversity and individuality.

The school was coloured pink as students and teachers alike brought out their pinkest outfits and participated in the activities organised by the year 12 Health class at lunchtime. The photo booth was a hit, with people keen to show off their outfits and have a little bit of fun, making sure they were in the running for prizes. Everyone flocked around for the cupcakes on sale, earning a generous $85 for the Pink Shirt Day Charity. Thank you to Ms Reid and Ms Whalan for allowing the Health students to use the Food’s room and ingredients to make the cupcakes.

Pink Shirt day originated in Canada and is an international effort to raise awareness about bullying and discrimination. Pink Shirt Day strongly aligns with the values of Logan Park around inclusivity therefore, our health class thought it would be a great opportunity for their “Take action to enhance the health of your school or local community” internal assessment.

Thank you everyone for your support on the day. We are very grateful as we raised a total of $1320.80 which exceeded our goal of $1000!

These funds go to the Pink Shirt Day Charity which are directly linked to the Mental Health Foundation. The money goes straight back into helping the community and allows them to continue the work they do in promoting the message that bullying, in any form, is not okay!
