The Learning and Support Class had a great opportunity to visit beehives at the Malcam Trust in Term 2 this year. 

Well prepared with suits and gloves, Arnika at Malcam, explained the life cycle of the bee, the different jobs bees do and demonstrated smoking the bees to keep them calm before we all crowded around the hives as she removed the frames to check on the bees and the honey. It was quite a challenge to remain still and calm as the bees landed on us! We came away feeling quite inspired to get some hives at LPHS. A big thank you to Garth and Arnika at the Malcam Trust.
