The Logan Park High School senior boys basketball team travelled to Ashburton on September 3rd - 6th to attend the Southern Cup Basketball tournament.

They finished up with a 17th-place finish, defeating Mt Hutt College 80-43 in the final playoff game. The final placing does not accurately reflect the team's overall performance as the boys played some really good basketball and gelled as a team over the tournament.

Despite their strong showing throughout the tournament, the team struggled to adjust to the demanding schedule, which included three consecutive 8am games. The early starts disrupted their rhythm and limited their ability to play at their peak level. However, the team showcased impressive individual performances, with Flynn Hayward and Tommy Jephson leading the way in scoring. Tobi Gardner also made significant strides throughout the tournament, demonstrating marked improvement in both his defensive skills and offensive contributions.

The team would like to extend a big thank you to their coach, Jase Frost, Frankie Vella, Team manager and Co-coach Oe Hayward, who also served as a tournament umpire. Their guidance and support were instrumental in the team's performance throughout the tournament.

The boys enjoyed their time off the court in Ashburton, and their positive attitude and sportsmanship made them a pleasure to take away. Despite the early morning challenges and the final placing, the Logan Park senior boys basketball team should be proud of their efforts and the positive growth displayed throughout the tournament. With continued hard work and dedication, they are well-positioned for future success.

We also want to acknowledge Flynn Hayward, Tom Barson, Arlo Bickerstaff, Charlie Bauchop and Louie McGlynn-Cole who we farewell as Yr 13's.  They have all contributed hugely to Logan Park Basketball over the past 5 years.
