Haere rã to our International Leavers

Arnika Hazelwood —

We farewelled a number of our international students in the whare on Friday 27 November amidst lots of laughter and tears.

Matua Tip, our Maori and International Outdoor Education teacher hand carved individual bone carvings for each student to wear as a reminder of their time at Logan Park. Girls received a roimata, symbolic of the tears of parting and boys received a toki, symbolic of their rites of passage. Tip spoke to each student about how precious they are as individuals and the fact that they would always be a part of their Logan Park whanau and be remembered with aroha.
Thanks to Maggie Verberne-Llewellyn, Dianne Rooney, Kathryn Temple, Christine Bennet and all the Logan Park teachers for all their efforts with the International Summer School programme and international events. We are looking forward to welcoming new students to our school at the end of January.
