CAT – Computational Algorithmic Competition
In early May, 34 Logan Park Students participated in the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) Competition.
Run by the Australian Maths Trust, the one-hour problem solving competition is designed to encourage student curiosity and promote multiple modes of thinking and has a mixture of multiple-choice and integer answers and incorporates unique ‘three-stage tasks’ that encourage students to develop informal algorithms and apply them to test data of increasing size or complexity.
All participants enjoyed the challenge of solving real-world problems involving the skills of the future, helping them become more confident as they take on interesting new challenges.
