This year was looking to be a big year for handball at Logan Park, with the New Zealand Schools' Handball Tournament happening at the start of April, with both a boys and girls team due to attend. Due to COVID-19 it was unfortunately cancelled so Term 1 consisted of 3 teams in the schools' league playing on Wednesday, and increased to 4 teams in term 4.

Juniors Boys

It was a big year for junior handball, with 2 junior boys handball teams in the Term 4 schools league. The Junior Boys A Team came out strong, and during the round-robin only lost one game to Kavanagh. The semi-finals were exciting against Bayfield and after going goal for goal in the first 10 minutes, pulled forward to win 13-6, giving them a place in the final where they will play an experienced Kings team. The Junior Boys B Team were a very new team, with most players never having played before. They played some really good handball with some very close matches, however unfortunately not winning any.

Senior Boys

The senior boys handball team has shown a huge amount of improvement throughout the year.

Girls

This year we were able to have a full girls team, mixed juniors and seniors. Having some experienced senior players, the junior players were able to learn lots and the team improved a lot throughout the year.  Unfortunately they have not been able to win any games, but have put up a good fight and shown that they can play handball, bringing the scores very close sometimes, just not able to get the win.

Representatives

For some of our handball players, the wait between Term 1 and Term 4 schools league was too much. Laura Graham, Grace Bell, Kane Wilson, Oliver Thompson, Eva Woodhouse and Lily Abbott joined teams in the Otago University Handball Social league, where Kane and Oliver were invited to attend the New Zealand Junior Men's National Training Camp. As well as Laura, Grace, Kane and Eva playing in the South Island Shield games in Dunedin and Christchurch against Canterbury. Laura Graham and Yannick Medvecky also attended a referee course held by Otago Handball that allowed them to referee in the schools league and junior tournament.
