For the past several years the Kapa Haka group has been involved in many areas around school service.

It has been another busy year for the Kapa Haka group. We started practising with a group of 34, which then dwindled to a group of about 10–12.

Some Kapa Haka involvements for school service included, The Mihi Whakatau for Year 9's and new teachers at the very start of Term 1. Other events in which the Kapa Haka group were involved were, Ms Walsh's Funeral, Wolfestock — Abby Wolfe Concert in late March, Nga Manu Korero Regionals in Invercargill in June, which was a great experience.

We also had a Mihi Whakatau for the International Students in late July, Nga Manu Korero Concert and Fundraising which started in early September. To help with the fundraising we had a Concert and a Hangi, with many bands performing. It was such a great night. Then there was the Otago Polyfest in mid September which we didn't participate in this year. We also had Senior Blues Ceremony and then the Ms Walsh's Naming Ceremony of the School Auditorium, Manawa Toi Whakaari.

Other events that the Kapa Haka group supported this year were the Pasifika Student Awards and Manu Pounamu Awards, the Senior Prizegiving and the Junior Prizegiving in early December.

Kapa Haka is definitely a fantastic opportunity and is a great way to build your confidence, and is great fun, you get to be involved in lots of different activities inside and outside of school too. You also get to meet lots of people and make heaps of new friends across all the year levels.

We would love to have you and your friends joining Kapa Haka for next year. It's great fun and you won't regret it!!
