During Term 3 our Year 12 PE class spent a day coaching at North East Valley Primary School running a sports day for their students.

The day is based around developing leadership skills with Achievement Standard 2.6 “Evaluate leadership strategies that contribute to the effective functioning of a group.”

Term 3 was based around practising leadership skills with their peers and other classes, along with developing a 20 minute activity for young people. The day involved seven 20 minute sessions with the primary students. Over the day the Year 12’s honed their activities and their leadership style to suit the dynamics of the primary students. The biggest challenge being the switch from years 4-6 to years 1-3!

Our students really stepped out of their comfort zone and excelled. The primary students had an amazing day and the NEV primary staff were very impressed with our students.
