A group of Year 11 and 12 Geographers went on a 3 day trip to Mt Cook to look at surface features in the Southern Alps and the processes involved in forming them.

Year 11's were also looking at sustainable use of the rivers and lakes. As usual we encountered stunning weather which was great for all the outside activities we did. We looked at the dams on way up and had a very interesting presentation at the Mt Cook salmon farm which ended with us eating sashimi from a salmon which was swimming around 30 minutes previously.  We enjoyed walks up Governor's Bush and the Hooker Valley where we saw many landforms made by glaciers. The highlight was definitely the Glacier Explorer trip where we went on small, powerful motor boats around glacial icebergs and to the snout of the Tasman Glacier.  We learned a lot and got an invaluable glimpse of Geography in action.
