Clayton House Report

Nick James-Pirie —

Beginning the year, Clayton put up a good fight at athletics day, showing up in full Clayton spirit, clad in blue.

Athletics day provided students with an opportunity to mix with other students and try new sports, all while participating in some friendly competition. Clayton’s spirit was high, reflected in blue outfits, facepaint and a friendly mammoth mascot. We unfortunately didn’t win, placing third behind Aoraki and Omimi. Regardless,Clayton put up a significant fight, yelling the new house chant written as loud as possible to secure any remaining points. Athletics day was a huge success. This event also produced some epic photos of the Logan Park spirit.

This year in Clayton we ran intergroup competitions to lift the spirit of our house. The first competition was a Kahoot. Groups randomly selected a topic (such as, music, sports and of course the Kardashians) and wrote four questions on said topic to compose the Kahoot. Group 1/3 won and earned the new Clayton prize; a blue bejewelled sash reading “Clayton” and a $7 Oscar! However, their title and prize were taken by group 1/7, when we welcomed The Avengers and Hannah Montana into Clayton. Groups had to recreate a photo of each party for our Term Two challenge.

Another feature which was a big hit was the inter group tournament. In continuation of the inter group competitions, all the head prefects planned one last head to head. This consisted of heats, semis, and finals, all with their own unique challenge. Over three weeks, the groups battled through a series of obstacle courses, relays and mental challenges, providing an opportunity for every student to get involved. In the end, group 1/8, took the win over Mrs Robertson’s group 1/6. They earned the Clayton trophy and sash, through a beautifully crafted drama performance starring bok choy, and a crown. This tournament allowed students to connect with others through team focused challenges, particularly for juniors, which required group planning, and communication. Overall, this challenge was a huge success for Clayton groups!

Thank you for all the teacher and student support in running Clayton House this year. It was a fantastic opportunity and we are proud to have been your Clayton 2022 leaders. All the best, Live Laugh Love, Clayton!
