Formal

Grace Jones —

On Saturday, the 27th of August, the LPHS Senior Formal was held at the Otago Museum. An evening of laughter, fun, and tasteful music from some of Logan Park's current and former student talent, it was a night to remember.

The theme of the Roaring 20's was this year's student choice; it was interwoven into all evening elements to create the sense of continuity that all themed events call for. From the understated table centerpieces to the amber lighting and gold fairy lights, we tried to incorporate the theme as simply and subtly as possible.

Running from 7pm until late, the evening underwent its events seamlessly. At a maximum capacity of 200 attendees, our guests enjoyed the Professional Photography on a Fairlight back wall and the Black Box Photo Booth with fun props!

We all enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner catered by Precinct, including individually served desserts!

After the dinner, prizes were awarded:

Best Sismance - Maia and Shima

Best Bromance - Kade and Daniel

Most Wholesome Platonic Duo - Amelia James-Pirie and Nick James-Pirie

Best Couple - John and Indi

Best Dressed to Theme - Marla

Best Hair and Makeup - Lula

And, for the second year in a row, the Best Dressed Teacher - Tip

After this, we all enjoyed music and party lighting in the Hutton Theatre as we danced until the night was over.

We have many people to thank for the occasion: Gravity Events for the theming, continuity, and photography, Precinct Catering for the delicious food, and the Jack Quartet with Isaac Randell, Jack Ta, Matthew Schack, and, most importantly, Darcy Monteath, who spent a large portion of her own formal performing for her peers.

Thank you to Ms. Farr and Mr. Spittle for their unweaving support and to my fellow students on the formal committee: Maia Puricelli Callau, Marla Telleria Seler, Darcy Monteath, and Sersha Forde. Without these people, the night would not have been possible.
