Congratulations to our chess 'A' team who won the Otago-Southland secondary school chess team tournament in August.

Alexander Sun, Zishen Fu, Paxton Hall, and Zack Hibbert will now travel to Tauranga to compete in the New Zealand finals.

The tournament attracted a record 15 teams with 7 rounds of chess packed into an afternoon and evening. In each game, played using chess clocks to time each move, each player must complete his or her moves in a maximum of 20 minutes or risk forfeiting the game. Logan Park won, with Otago Boys High School second and John McGlashan College third.
