Film Club

Mathew Denys —

2k14 saw the Logan Park Film Club reunited under the governorship, as usual, of Craig Storey.

Every Wednesday we met in the Media Studies room, awaiting Craig to turn up with a USB full of pleasant surprises. Although we didn’t end up creating any films this year, Craig continued to teach us lessons about concepting, scripting, lighting, camera work, sound and editing. We also watched a large variety of short films, how-to videos and of course, the odd fail compilation.

This year had 4 teams of Logan Parkers enter the Rialto Channel 48 hour filmmaking competition. As usual, we did well; Cerberus won the ‘Best Wardrobe, Hair and Makeup’ award for Dunedin and Southland, and were nominated for the national ‘Best Makeup’ award. Oscar The Walrus, Cerberus, and Can’t Remember were all nominated for the ‘Rising Talent’ award; Cerberus and Oscar The Walrus were nominated for ‘Best School Team’; and Grant McNaughton and Tia Hibbert were nominated for best actor and actress respectively.
