CRICKET 2022

PEF —

Cricket continues to go well at Logan Park High School. We started the Term Four season with four games in the McCullum Cup over Labour weekend.

This was a great tournament for us as we won two matches against South Otago and Waitaki Boys.

On Saturdays the team has been playing in a Premier Reserve grade against mostly boy’s schools. So far we have won two out of three games. Our most recent victory was comprehensive when we scored over 300 runs and bowled the opposition out for under 50.

Another highlight was travelling down to South Otago High School at Balclutha. Bowling them out for 60 and Loek van Broekhaven hittting the first ball of our run chase for a huge 6.

A new crop of year 9s are now playing with great confidence and skill. This includes Jordan Trainer, Conor Hobbs, Odin Hyink and Ozan Biner-McGrath. All players who will strengthen the team as they age.

The old hands of Alex Parkes, Bruno McMillan, Ethan Lambeth and most importantly team captain Kieran Graham have helped create a team culture of inclusion and competitiveness.

The talent at year 10 and 11 is proving that there is great depth in the side with Loek and Stijn van Broekhaven our fastest bowlers and Floriaan Keenan bowling amazing swing balls.

Practices have been amazingly well attended and the help of North East Valley coach Jacob has been much appreciated.

This year everyone in the team sees themselves as a bowler and part time bowler Conor Hobbs got the amazing figures of 6 for 7 against a young Otago Boys group in one of our later games.

Next year we know some talented new Year 9s are coming to us to further strengthen our team.
