Devised Drama at Toitu Museum

Alice Houston-Page —

For Term 3 Drama in Year 10 we devised our own scenes, inspired by a location at Toitu.

We were put into groups and encouraged to push ourselves to create the best scene we could. We wrote our scripts, using the ideas that had come to us on our visit to Toitu. We then rehearsed throughout the term, developed our own characters, and worked together as a team to make the drama flow smoothly. All of our efforts paid off in the end, and there was a wide variety of stunning pieces performed for parents and some staff at Toitu at the start of the next term. We enjoyed working at Toitu and learning about different parts of the museum in a historic and dramatic context. It was a great opportunity to develop our teamwork, improvisational and performance skills and use our creativity to create wonderful end results.
