Year 9 Reading Challenge

Michelle Summerfield —

During the first eight weeks of Term 3, all Year 9 classes took part in a reading challenge.

A long-standing annual event, run as a part of the library programme, the reading challenge required students to set reading goals and work hard to achieve them. Many students either met or exceeded their goal.

Some students took on the optional ‘Bookopoly’ challenge. This activity, based on a Monopoly board, encouraged readers to read a wide range of texts and genres.

The final part of the reading challenge was called ‘The Extreme Reading Challenge’.  Students and staff were asked to enter by taking a photo of them reading somewhere extreme or quirky. There were some very creative entries!

Our thanks go to the University Book Shop who donated prizes.
Well done to all who took part.

The following students won prizes at our lunchtime prize giving on the 22nd of September.
