Charities Club

Alva Feldmeier —

Logan Park’s Charities Club has had a great year of collecting and fundraising for various charities.

With the awesome contribution of our school community we were able to support the Red Cross, the Dunedin Hospice, Chatbus, the Dunedin Night Shelter, Women’s Refuge, IHC New Zealand and the Salvation Army.

The different fundraisers included a lucky dip sale in which students, parents and teachers helped to fundraise for the Dunedin Night Shelter by making small lucky dips which could then be sold during lunchtime. We raised $136 and collected two big boxes of food and toiletry donations that went to the local charity.

To support the Dunedin Rape Crisis we hosted a clothes sale and raised a great amount in our two lunchtime sales.

On market day we decided to fundraise by setting up a range of fun carnival games including ring toss, can knock down and more. This way we were able to support the IHC with a $120 donation. Our biggest fundraiser was World Visions 40 Hour Famine, supporting the construction of child friendly spaces for Syrian children in refugee camps. We raised a collective amount of more than $3200. This was only possible with the help of around 80 participants throughout all year levels and their generous sponsors.

We want to thank everyone for the great support and donations which have made it such a successful year for us!

Keep an eye out for our exploits next year!
