Maria Larsen, Year 10, won the "Heads Up for Kids - Elwing Discoveries" competition, winning a trip sailing to Stewart Island.
In her application, Maria said, "In the modern age we spend a lot of time inside doing things like watching TV and not connecting with nature. This trip will let me experience the outdoors more and help me learn more about myself."
Maria is also involved in scouting as a member of the Opoho Venturers group and she is working towards her Queen Scout Award.
