Congratulations to Head Boy, Jacobi Kohu-Morris who won the Lions New Zealand Young Speechmaker national final in Tauranga in August.

He has won a six week trip to Canada and the United States in January next year.

The competition was for young people under 21. Jake spoke about the legacy and example of our forebears who displayed leadership, resilience and courage when they fought at Gallipoli 100 years ago. He was also required to give a three minute impromptu speech on the topic of "Keeping Safe."

Jake has had a long list of speech successes during his time at Logan Park. He has won the Dunedin secondary schools' Manu Korero, Lions, Race Unity, Model United Nations and RSA regional speech and debating competitions and hasrepresented Otago at many national events. He has also been runner up in the NZ Race Unity and RSA speech competitions, and was invited to deliver a state of the nation address at the NZ First Party conference. 

Jake was one of 24 NZ Youth Ambassadors sent to Gallipoli for the Anzac Day 100th anniversary celebrations, after winning the Otago RSA speech final.

He joins a previous Head Girl, Serena Cotton and Phoebe Smith who have also had the distinction of winning Best Speaker in New Zealand over the years.
