It has been another very busy and successful cricket season this year.

A strong group of Year 10 players are leading the way with increasingly competitive results in all the competitions played.

Our first success was winning the Dunedin sixes competition in November 2012. This format was six-a-side using a soft ball and plastic bats. Each team batted for six overs.  Players to shine here were Sean Hall and Taine Clinch with their big hitting.

The Saturday team continues to improve and David Spencer as an opener has several times batted nearly right through an innings. Currently he has the highest score of 81 not out for the season. Wins against John Mcglashan, and Kings have been notched up.

George Maclaurin has been selected for the Dunedin Metro team and has impressed with both his bowling and batting. Sean Hall gained a five wicket bag against Kings and is also showing impressive pace. Dylan Deans–Barrett has improved his batting so much that he is now batting at number three. And Jaebyn Stevens has accepted his new position as an opener with aplomb while several Year nines have been added to the team. Of these Max Riddle has shown the most enthusiasm.

Old hands have retired this year. Our thanks go to Kieran Oswald and Damon Lillis who have helped keep cricket going in the lean years. Damon played his last game in early November, was a part of a memorable win and hit his first six for Logan Park.

Some new older players have shown good form too. Ibraham Mohammad moved from Auckland and can spin the ball dramatically. Bippin Chauhan from India is a very aggressive bowler and batsman who is also contributing to the team.

Unfortunately one of our stronger seniors Chris Gillett suffered concussion in the last rugby game of the season and has had to miss all our games in the second half of the year. Still he has been able to turn up and help coach and umpire our regular Saturday games.

In the October holidays the team played in the McCullum Cup which was an extremely tough competition against some very strong first elevens. This experience however has seen the team adapt and improve quickly and be stronger for the experience.

For the 2013/14 season the team aims to win half its games and at the time of writing they have won one and lost two. As the Year 10s move into the senior school our aim is to win the Open School competition in 2014/15.
