This year they have looked at growing crystals, dissecting lungs & sheep eyeballs. One experiment they carried out, showed them how quickly germs can develop on their cellphones.

Our students have undertaken numerous technology projects this year. They have learned to use a product design computer program, to develop their ideas and then go on and manufacture their products. Students have also extended their knowledge and use of the 3D printer and lazer cutter. All brand new equipment purchased, by the Logan Park Technology Department.

Art time was special. Students and staff enjoyed being creative in a comfortable setting. Music provided an uplifting the atmosphere in the Learning Support Centre and many wonderful artworks were created throughout the year. Including individual works placed together to form a large Tapa cloth, which hangs proudly in the classroom.

Our cooking classes are always a highlight for our students. They got to learn many life skills, by using a range of practical techniques. These skills included: food preparation & the use of kitchen equipment, health & safety systems, using time & measurement and working with others.

On Monday afternoons students went to work experience at local buisinesses. At YouthGrow this year, assiste in the nurturing of seedlings. They mixed up soil, re-potted plants and kept them alive by watering them.

Our students have improved their literacy competence, by participating in the SPEC program. A student gets presented here with a certificate, for his achievement in History.

The highlight of every week is always our “Blast Off” class trips. This year we have been on many adventures. These included ice skating, bush walks, Moana Pool, fishing, Orakanui Eco Sanctuary. Usually these trips included food, drinks, or an ice cream.

The highlight of the year for Learning Support staff and pupils, was the end of year show. This year there was an underwater theme incorporated into a fairy-tale rollicking adventure.
