Eva Woodhouse —

This year Logan Park handball had a different look to previous years.

With an increase in participation we were able to field three teams, however, differing from past years our A team was co-ed.

All teams had a large amount of success in Term 1:- The A team made the A grade final and lost by 2 goals to a strong King's team;- The B team won B grade in a close final against Bayfield mixed. The success of these teams in Term 1 resulted in a very similar layout of teams in Term 4, having a co-ed A team, as well as one very strong B co-ed team and a C junior boys team. So far in Term 4, all teams are undefeated and have their eyes set on their respective finals.

Within our school handball community Ethan Dalwood made the U20 New Zealand team and John Barham made the U18 New Zealand teams and are travelling to Rarotonga in early December where they hope to qualify for the intercontinental championship in Asia. Ethan, John and Yannick Medvecky-Wolkenhauer played in the Otago adult team who won the National Handball Championships. Eva Woodhouse and Grace Jones represented Otago at numerous tournaments, and both made the U19 team which will travel at the end of 2023.
It is fair to say it has been a very successful year for LPHS handball, and many have found it very enjoyable and rewarding.
