Logan Park High School Sports Round up September
At the national Indoor Bowls Tournament in Wellington, Jonty Horwell won the New Zealand Junior Singles title.
Tournament Week went well for all our teams.
In the Basketball Tournament in Dunedin, a highlight was Jaren Roy scoring 43 points in one game against Buller High School.
In Blenheim, our First XI Hockey team played 6 games, with some good wins, losses and draws. For a young team, they impressed with their grit and determination. George Vella-King received the award of “Best Player.”
Ben Major and Jacob Duffy gave strong performances in the Otago Hockey Under 15 Development team. Ben scored 3 goals, and the team won 11-2 against Southland and 2-1 against Central Otago.
In Badminton, Punn Ruayruen has been selected for the Otago team and has been fundraising for a tournament in Invercargill.
Nikolai Menkies won an Outstanding Endeavour Award sailing on the Spirit on New Zealand in August.
Kashi Leuchs, an ex-student was our guest speaker at our Senior Blues Assembly. He talked about his experiences as a national champion and Olympic mountain biker. We honoured some outstanding performances, including national representation in gym, fencing, sailing, bowls, and athletics, as well as numerous regional representation in a number of codes.
Pippi Miller continues to excel in Fencing, coming third equal in the Women’s Foil at the South Island Championships in Dunedin. She fenced very well against top ranked women in New Zealand.
2 junior teams competed in the Get 2 Go Challenge in Dunedin, in orienteering, kayaking, and mountainbiking.
Vollleyball has started with 5 teams competing in the local competition.
Futsal has started and we're keen to defend our titles from last year.
