Learning Support Class of 2021

Amanda Wilson —

2021 has been a varied and colourful year for our Learning Support Class.

The class has taken on the challenges of this year and shown both resilience and adaptability during these unpredictable times. We have had enormous growth socially with students showing care for each other's health and well being. 2021 has been a time of deepening our understanding of living together responsibly. Throughout the year we’ve had several new exciting activities and adventures alongside our usual favorites.

Our class has been a hive of activity academically, with growing independence and self directed learning, we have produced some great works. SPEC assignments have been especially impressive with some students exceeding well beyond expectation! Science and Math with Ms Daly has often been exciting, especially loved was our water-bottle rocket experiment day. Our walls and shelves are colourfully filled with this year’s Arts and Crafts projects and reveal some real talent. Cooking class is popular and always prepared, cooked and devoured admirably.

Some highlights from 2021 include House Day with Omimi at Aramoana, visits to several museums, Wals new Maze, Sawyers Bay animal farm visit, Quarantine Island, Olveston and our weekly work experience at Restore, Youth Grow and New World is greatly enjoyed (when Covid allows). It has been another great year.

Thank you to everyone for all your support!
