Junior Sports Tournament 17th–20th November

Francine Vella —

The Otago Secondary School Sports Assn organise a Junior Sports Tournament each year that all Secondary schools are eligible to enter.

The aim is participation and encouraging students to have a go. Logan Park entered teams in 20/20 Cricket played over two days, Handball, Waterpolo, Dodgeball and Touch.   Each Sport was played for one day. It was a great week.

Logan Park Mixed Dodgeball team won the Mixed Dodgeball competition. They played 8 games winning all 8. Their toughest competition was East Otago High School and Roxburgh. They played Roxburgh in the final. Roxburgh has been strong in the two earlier matches but fell away in the final losing 4–0 to us.

Our Boys team had a tougher day but had some success. Most importantly Logan Park students had a fun day playing Dodgeball literally all day. Staff attending the event commented that even in the break times our students were hanging out with students from other schools playing dodgeball.

Waterpolo and Handball teams both placed 3rd. Cricket and Touch teams were made up mostly of students trying a new sport, so while they did not have many successes, they had a great experience.
