Aoraki 2015

Paul Fielding —

Second again in House points but not down and out.

2015 has been another happy and mostly successful year for Aorakians. While not dominating Athletics Day, we did improve on 2014 and we won the basketball and came a close second in the indoor rowing and futsal.

Where we have excelled is in academic pursuits such as the Blues Assembly and at the Senior Prize Giving. Both Duxes this year, Jacobi and Pippi are from Aoraki, while at the Blues Assembly members of Aoraki won six of the seven John Letts awards announced.

This year House Day was held at Brighton, breaking a nine year run of different venues since PEF started as Dean. Exhausted of alternative venues it was pointed out a five year rotation gave everyone a different venue every year anyway, during their time at Logan Park. Under improving skies another great day of beach activities was had by all. Sandcastles built around a Gallipoli theme impressed the judges and the afternoon tug of war competition brought much competition and hilarity.

Many thanks must go to our finishing leaders this year, Jacobi and Pippi as well as a strong leadership team who helped organise and rally the troops all year. Especially here Oliver Eden Mann, whose enthusiasm in sports organisation was well rewarded with the Services to Sport trophy at senior prize giving.

House spirit remains high and we look forward to another great year in 2016 under our newly announced leaders, Erica Stedman and Bruno Willis.
