Ariyan Zarei —

This year Logan Park has had one of the most successful years of entries to the events organized by the UN Youth of New Zealand.

Our entries included local events such as the Dunedin Youth Forum where students from across the city gathered to discuss ways that local government could provide services needed by teenagers, the Otago and Southland Model UN with over 150 students from across the lower South Island represented various countries in the United Nations and debated in the same manner as it is done in New York. Similarly we also had a few lucky students who flew to Auckland for the Aotearoa Youth Declaration in April, an event with students from all over the country discussing strategies that could be implemented by the government, and creating a final document sent to all MP's so that they can consider the youth perspective when making decisions. As well as this, multiple students flew to Wellington in July for the NZ Model UN, the flagship event of the organization where over 400 students from across New Zealand represented all countries in the United Nations and debated topics such as poverty, global warming and nationalism while staying true to the ideologies of the country they represented.
