International Science Forum

Kristan Mouat —

Grant McNaughton was selected to attend an International Science Forum in the United Kingdom at the end of July.

Grant will spent 3 weeks in the UK at the London International Youth Science Forum 2016. The theme of the forum was "Great Scientific Discoveries," and some of the top global scientists and professors presented at the forum. Grant took part in lectures, student debates, experiments as well as giving a presentation about New Zealand. The other New Zealander attending the forum was from Auckland.

Grant also had the opportunity to discover the excitement of fundamental research at CERN in Geneva. CERN, is one of the world's largest and most respected centres for scientific research, with over 2500 scientists researching fundamental physics. He got the chance to take a look behind the scenes of the world's largest particle physics laboratory. In 2014 Grant won a Treasury Scholarship at the Sir Paul Callaghan National Eureka! Science Symposium in Wellington. And last year he was invited to Wellington to discuss with senior government officials, ways to improve New Zealand's living standards.
